Woods brings with him 10 years of collegiate coaching experience, including nine at the NCAA Division I level at Stony Brook University. While at Stony Brook, he helped the Seawolves transition into an FCS power, winning five conference titles (2005 NEC; 2009-12 Big South). He specialized in working with the Long Island community and recruited scholarship athletes in New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Woods spent five years as Stony Brook’s offensive line coach and helped turn the Seawolves into one of the nation’s elite rushing teams, consistently ranking atop the NCAA Division I rushing statistics. Under his tutelage, the offensive line paved the way for multiple players to surpass the 1,000-yards rushing plateau in the same season numerous times. He mentored several All-Americans and all-conference picks in the NEC, Big South and CAA.

Woods was responsible for the developments of Michael Bamiro and Paul Fenaroli. Bamiro is currently a member of the New York Giants and previously played for the Philadelphia Eagles. Fenaroli enjoyed stints with the Giants, Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers. He also worked daily with legendary Seawolves running back Miguel Maysonet, who went on to earn spots with multiple NFL organizations.

Woods came to Stony Brook after spending one year a Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he coached linebackers.

A four-year letter winner and two-year starter, Woods was an offensive lineman for Union College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2004. He captained the squad his senior campaign.

Woods went on to earn his master’s in liberal studies with a concentration in athletic coaching Stony Brook University in 2008 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in school counseling at LIU.

Woods continues to coach football for the storied William Floyd varsity team. At William Floyd, he is charged with guiding the offensive and defensive lines.

Woods currently lives in Ronkonkoma with his wife, Kristen, and sons Aiden and Austin. He holds a certification from USA Heads Up Football and is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and American School Counselors Association. Woods was accepted into Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society for professional counselors.
