LI Empire 2016 LSM Matthew Spahr has chosen to continue his academic and athletic career at SUNY Albany. We asked Matthew to elaborate on his decision:

Most Influential Coach and Why: Coach Mitchell, my high school coach, has been the most influential coach in my life. He dedicates his time and effort to the program and everyone in it. He is also always there for the whole team, on and off the field.
Why you chose to commit to that college: Albany was the best fit all around. They have some great, highly regarded programs, professors and departments. The lacrosse program is extremely competitive and also has such an amazing family atmosphere.
Why do you play lacrosse: I play lacrosse because I love the game.
How has lacrosse influenced your life: Lacrosse has been a huge impact in my life, introducing me to all of my friends today.
What are your pregame rituals: I text my dad before every game.
What motivates you: Coach Mitchell’s pregame talks
Favorite memory of playing Empire lacrosse: Playing together in the Rotanz Fall Classic
What has the game taught you: The game has taught me discipline and to work hard in everything.
