TEAM 91 SPREADS HOLIDAY SPIRIT FROM LONG ISLAND TO AFGHANISTAN

December 21, 2015

Bohemia, NY

On Monday, December 21st, Santa Claus (Team 91 Director, George Breres) and his elves from Team 91 visited the AHRC and the Saul and Elaine Seiff Educare Center in Bohemia, NY. Members of the Dynamic Sports Management staff joined the Team 91 directors, coaches, players and families to spread holiday cheer and hand out donated gifts to the students at the Educare Center.

The AHRC and the Saul and Elaine Seiff Educare Center in Bohemia offers a wide array of programs and services to individuals and families of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  The center also provides students with the tools for further education, future employment and a life of self-sufficiency.

Gifts for the students and classrooms were collected at the Team 91 training sessions and main office throughout the month of December.  Event organizer and Dynamic Sports Co-President, Sean Chamberlain addressed the group of volunteers before visiting the classrooms saying, "We used to come here and volunteer when I was a member of the Stony Brook University Lacrosse team and it was one of the most rewarding things we did all year.  When I became involved with youth sports, it seemed a perfect fit to bring back the volunteer work and have some of the staff and players come and visit the kids at the AHRC. This is just something you have to do in life. It reminds you to be grateful for all you have and give back to our community in a meaningful way.

Team 91 Director Jimmy Mule' summed it up best, "This is a great way for people to give back and spread holiday cheer. Our young men and women learn invaluable lessons by volunteering and the children at the AHRC get a kick out of seeing Santa and receiving gifts. It was really great to see and to be a part of."

The Team 91 giving spirit continued when the Team 91 2022 United team shipped a holiday care package to an Army Medic Unit deployed in Afghanistan. Spearheaded by head coach, Josh Marksberry, the team wrote Christmas cards and donated Team 91 jerseys, t-shirts and amazon gift cards to the soldiers who won’t be able to come home for the holidays. The Team 91 team received a huge thank you from the soldiers via Facebook and was even challenged to a game of lacrosse when the soldiers return home from deployment! Now that’s a challenge we are truly looking forward to.
